the daggers voice
I think that, while the game was fairly even yesterday, if any side would've won - it was would be us.
For the first quarter of an hour, Macclesfield were the better team and looked like scoring. However, after we took the lead against the run of play admittedly, we seemed to wake up and after that were probably the better team.
The goal itself was pure class. We went from one end of the pitch to another and absolutely carved Macclesfield oven, with Fejiri applying a finish to match. It was a brilliant move but unfortunately we couldn't hold on.
The equaliser eventually came in the cruellest of circumstances. It seemed we would hold out and secure three priceless points from a tough game. It was a poor goal to concede; the defence switched off, the ball was played across goal, and their striker bundled the ball home from barely a yard - the simplicity of it was quite unbelievable to be honest.
Last season we conceded more last minute goals than I can count. Yesterday we done the same and it was frustrating as it meant FGR opened a four point lead at the top. However, we have a chance to put it right in just two days when we face Aldershot Town where we need to win.
The best teams beat those around them.
Bring on Tuesday!
