the daggers voice
As we are without a game today due to International Duty, I have decided to compile a list of my favourite Daggers games of 2015. Just to clarify, these are only games I have witnessed that happened last year, so any games I did not attend will not be in here.
At Number Ten:
10. Home v Luton Town
01 November 2015, Sky Bet League Two
This foggy Sunday afternoon brought a 2-0 loss in East London but what was more memorable was what happened after the game, where I was privileged enough to meet all the players in the hospitality lounge. I also left my Tigers match at half time in order to make the 1pm kick off. One of their goalscorers, Guttridge, would later sign for us.
09. Home v Bury
03 January 2015, Sky Bet League Two
To secure the double over a team who would eventually get promoted and not conceding once is pretty rare. At this time, when recovering from injury, a Rhys Murphy goal was too; but both of these combined to ensure this frosty January afternoon ended with three points. His last ever Daggers goal.
08. Home v Plymouth Argyle
28 November 2015, Sky Bet League Two
The unexpected midweek win at Wimbledon buoyed on Daggers to produce a resilient performance against promotion-chasing Plymouth which was deserved of three points. However, deep into injury time, Ryan Brunt struck a cruel deflected equaliser to cancel out Labadie's opener and snatch a point.
07. Home v Cheltenham Town
Saturday 31 January 2015, Sky Bet League Two
Daggers put in a dominant display to see off the league's bottom club Cheltenham in East London. After I'd been a flagbearer before the game, goals from Jamie Cureton, Ashley Hemmings and Alex Jakubiak secured the win, with the away side scoring a penalty to level the scores at 1-1.
06. Away v Stevenage
Wednesday 07 October 2015, JPT Round Two
Daggers travelled to Stevenage three times in 2015, winning every fixture. For this JPT clash, I made the relatively short coach journey with Dad to witness an equisite Cureton lob and fierce Chambers strike earn us a place in the area quarter finals of the Johnstones Paint Trophy, despite Stevenage's consolation late on.
05. Home v Accrington Stanley
Saturday 25 April 2015, Sky Bet League Two
Daggers ended the season in style with a resounding 4-0 win over Accrington Stanley on the penultimate weekend of the campaign. Rampant Dagenham took the lead when Partridge headed home in the first half, and in the second half Cureton, Raymond and Jodi Jones also contributed to the rout.
04. Home v AFC Wimbledon
Monday 06 April 2015, Sky Bet League Two
Jamie Cureton hit an impressive hat-trick as Dagenham & Redbridge celebrated Easter Monday with an emphatic 4-0 win over AFC Wimbledon in 'The District Line Derby'. Cureton's treble took his total to eighteen for the season while Scott Doe registered his first goal that campaign with a looping header.
03. Away v AFC Wimbledon
02. Away v Newport County
Saturday 18 April 2015, Sky Bet League Two
This was just brilliant. Me and Nan travelled on the coach early-morning to sunny Newport where Daggers edged a bizarre five-goal thriller with all goals coming in the last twelve minutes! Before the game I was allowed in the dressing room thanks to Wayne Burnett and I went on the pitch! Just surreal.
01. Away v Tranmere Rovers
Saturday 07 March 2015, Sky Bet League Two
I experienced the whole of Liverpool in just a few days. From the divine hotel and vibrant nightlife, to visiting Liverpool and Everton FC via Stanley Park, this was just brilliant. Prenton Park was beautiful, the Tranmere staff were welcoming and the match was incredible, and included our goal of the season!
I am Joel Page, Dagenham & Redbridge FC fan. Here I will share some of my experiences.
